Colerain Welcomes New Girls Soccer Coach

#WeAreColerain

Colerain High School is set to welcome a new women's soccer coach pending BOE approval, adding another Cardinal to their coaching staff.

Ben Knapp graduated from Colerain High School in 2006, where he played 2 years of varsity soccer as a goalkeeper. Upon graduation, Ben joined the Cincinnati State Men's soccer team where he was awarded the OCCA Goalkeeper of the Year in 2007. He continued to train as a goalkeeper in the Semi-Pro indoor ranks until he decided to shift his focus to coaching.

In 2007, Ben began his coaching career by working with Playmakers Academy and other Cincinnati State-led soccer camps. He then assisted as a goalkeeper trainer for several girls' soccer teams at Kolping SC and Talawanda High School, before focusing on individual goalkeeper training. In 2021, Ben switched his focus to coaching his children through the SAY program at Kolping. He eventually became the Head Coach of the Kolping Boys 09 Black team and also assists on the Orange team, where he still coaches spring soccer. Ben is also heavily involved in the youth development program at Kolping for ages 3-5 and winter training camps for all age groups.

Ben is happily married to his wife of 10 years, Libby, and they reside in White Oak. They are both huge supporters of all Colerain sports and have two children, Gordon and Dottie.

We will have a meeting for parents and anyone interested in playing soccer to meet Coach Knapp in the coming weeks. We will also have our summer calendar ready. As a reminder, tryouts will take place starting Thursday, August 1st.
