PITTSBURGH, Pa. – Defending USCAA Women's Division II National Champion UC Clermont scored four first half goals and repeated as USCAA Champions with a 5-0 win over Christendom on Sunday evening.
The five goals are the most in a final since the USCAA split into divisions for soccer in 2018 and the most since Maine-Fort Kent scored seven in the 2015 championship match.
The Cougars opened the scoring at the 2:47 mark as Reece Odirobina found the ball at her feet after a scrum in front of the net and gave UC Clermont the early advantage. The margin doubled as Ava Scherz was on the receiving end of a Kaylee Rose feed at 7:30 to lead 2-0.
UC Clermont pushed the lead to 3-0 at the 16:45 mark as Molly Ennis took a Scherz feed and beat the goalie with a shot into the lower left corner of the net. The first half scoring closed at 35:33 when Kerlanne White took an Ava Gray feed from the other side of the penalty box and blasted one to lead 4-0.
Natalie Rice finished the scoring for UC Clermont with an unassisted goal with 77 seconds left in the championship match for the 5-0 win.
