Welcome New Boys Soccer Coach

We will hold a meeting Wednesday, 4/26 at 7:00 PM in the CHS auditorium to meet Coach Ranieri.

Coach Nicola Ranieri joins the Cardinals as the new Head Men's Soccer Coach for the upcoming 2023 Season.

Coach Ranieri, was born in Bari, Italy in 1955; he signed his first professional soccer playing contract at 16, for ACF Martina Franca- in the 3rd tier of Italian Professional Football (Serie C)

By the age of 20, Ranieri went on to sign with top-tier professional side AS Bari and spent 3 years playing in the top flight of Italian professional soccer. At the age of 27, Coach Ranieri retired from professional football due to an injury. In 1985, he immigrated to the United States after brief coaching spells with various youth academies in Italy.

Once stateside, Ranieri began his coaching career working with Anderson HS Men's Soccer program. Coach Ranieri guided the men's program to the state finals in 1988, a first in program history. He also spent time with McNick & Sycamore HS men's soccer programs, where he found success turning both programs into city powerhouses in the Cincinnati Rankings.

In 1992 – Coach joined Team Cincinnati as a head coach for multiple of their men's teams. In 1993, he became the Director of Coaching for the prestigious soccer club and lead the U17, U18 & U19 teams to multiple state cup victories in 1994, 1995 & 1996. The U19 Team finished 2nd runners-up at the Regional Finals in 1995.

In 1996 – Ranieri took his U19 Men's team from Team Cincinnati to new heights, as he became the Head Coach of the Cincinnati Riverhawks (USISL PDL). The roster was made up of mostly local Cincinnati natives, with most coming from the Team Cincinnati State Champions.

Coach Ranieri lead the Cincinnati Riverhawks to the PDL National Championship that same rookie season, a first in PDL history. 

Ranieri went on the coach the Riverhawks from 1997 – 2003 in the USISL A-League; the 2nd tier in North American Professional Soccer. Coach Ranieri recorded historic victories in that time vs clubs such as – Portland Timbers, Montreal Impact, Toronto Lynx (MLS)

Coach Ranieri went on to become a National Scout for professional clubs overseas in 2005—sending local talent on professional trials in Italy with clubs; AS Bari, AS Roma & AC Lazio. Ranieri spent 2006-2017 as a professional agent & manager for his son Nicolas Ranieri—a former DI collegiate & professional player in Spain & Italy.

In 2018, Ranieri served as Technical Director for The Loveland Storm FC, where he oversaw player development & instructed the coaching staff in all technical & tactical aspects.

In 2022, Ranieri served as Technical Director for Passion FC & was a staff coach for the ON GOAL National Youth Soccer Camp. Ranieri holds a USSF National A Coaching License, which he earned in 1992.

Coach Ranieri currently resides in Loveland with his wife Pat, and has two children – Arianna & Nicolas.
